I dont know about your share cert but my great grandfather was employed as an engineer by Kapanga Co on thei Plutus Battery . For interest I include my info. Coromandel Museum. Thames Advertiser and Miners News. 17 Dec 1874. Plutus Battery was opened today - an enjoyable day and all went well. 19 Dec. 1874 - Telegrams Coromandel Columns. An accident occurred to a man named Wilson yesterday. He fell from the Waikoromeko track into a ravine, a distance of 100 feet. The case was considered to be almost hopeless. Dr Hovell was in attendance. 21 Dec. 1874. An inquest was held on Wilson who died last night from injuries received by falling from the Waikoromeko Track, and resulted in the verdict of accidental death. Sunday 5.22pm Wilson was buried today. There was a large attendance at the funeral. A meeting was held in the Upper Township yesterday, and nearly 50 pounds subscribed. Another meeting takes place at the Lower Township tonight and a large subscription is expected. Monday - Coromandel 7.45pm Subscriptions are being got up for the widow of Wilson. Nearly 100 pounds has been collected already. 23 Dec. 1874 Wilson had been a good many years at Coromandel, having come out with the Kapanga Co. and had been employed as a timberman til he went to work on the erection of the Plutus Battery. 24 Dec. 1874 .The Plutus Battery cleaned up today and obtained 60 ozs of gold from 35 tons of stuff.

I have one of these share certificates, found inside a box my father purchased. The certificate number is 1299 and it's dated December 1886, belonging to a gentleman from Bristol. I've sometimes wondered if it has any worth, being for ten shares numbered 54758 to 54767.

Thanks Brian, It has been a labor of love putting these all together and we still have a lot more to go yet (as time dictates). I do believe that these are important and beautiful parts of our history so they should be seen and hopefully at some point i will get around to adding history and other details for them. I look forward to seeing yours

Hi, Welcome to my collection. I collect share certificates and associated material from the mining industries in the UK, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, The Gold Coast Colony and Rhodesia.

I would enjoy hearing from collectors with similar interests to my own or from those who have information about the mines and the companies that i have certificates for.

If you have certificates fr sale or for trade i would also like to here from you.
