The Nortthern Territory Nursing Museum & Historical Photographs is on the Casuarina Campus of the Charles Darwin University, Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia. It started by accident with the transfer of pre-registration nursing education from hospital to the tertiary education in 1987. It holds historic nursing memorabilia and artefacts telling the local story of northern and central Australia which is significant for the national nursing story.
The Nursing Museum recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, people and culture as integral to our Australian history and heritage. Visitors to the Museum’s catalogue are warned there may be identification and images of deceased persons in photographs. There may be language [terms and phrases] reflecting the attitude of the author of the time when the item was written which are considered inappropriate today.
