This plate was produced by the Pratt factory prior to them mastering the art of transfer printing using multi-colours. Felix Pratt with this plate used kaolin mixed with the other material to create this which was named Kaolin Ware. It proved not to be such a great material to fire, as many pieces they produced in the early experimental days, we see that the blues tended to bleed into the pottery.
Picture1. Displays a complete picture using blue only.
Picture 2. Displays the use of using a couple of colours sparingly.
Picture 3. Displays using a little more hand painting but note that the colours seem washed out.
Picture 4. Displays the use of bold hand painting and using more gold shows a complete picture.
Note:- As the process improved the back stamp changed to numbering the designs, the Pratts continued to use a numbering system on certain wares for many years.
