This cup & saucer combination is fairly unique. It was produced before Felix Pratt had introduced their multi coloured transfer wares. This indicates that they were like every other potter at the time, they were producing single coloured transfer wares in the colours Blue, Green, Red ,Black, Purple al in single colours and if other colours were to be used they were painted on by hand.
In 1847 Pratt Registered with the Patents Office, a new process and shortly after he started producing multi coloured transfer printed wares under glazed wares and they lead the field amongst all the other potteries. The pictures on both the cup and saucer displays some small flowers and one oval shaped flower head in the single colour blue.
