This cup & saucer combination is fairly unique. It was produced before Felix Pratt had introduced their multi coloured transfer wares. The branding on the saucer reads ' Kaolin Ware, then a Chinese design, NANKIN, then F & R P No 1. This indicates that they were like every other potter at the time, they were producing single coloured transfer wares in the colours Blue , Red ,Black, Purple & so. In 1847 Pratt Registered with the Patents Office, a new process and shortly after he started producing multi coloured transfer printed wares and he lead the field amongst all the others potters. The picture shows some large flower heads.
