William H. Page was a true pioneer in wood type manufacturing.

He demonstrated a rare talent for designing type faces that are classics of their period, revived and still in use today. This was combined with an inventive ability to design new machines and processes, and he pioneered new techniques for the efficient creation of borders, chromatic fonts and everyday workhorse fonts.
